Can I Make Jewelry With My Own Stone?
Direct answer
Yes. A stone you already own — a family gem, a loose stone, a stone from an old piece — can be set into a new custom design, or reset into a modified one. Before committing we inspect it: cut, size, and whether it is sound enough to set and wear. Setting is done by hand under a microscope like every stone here. The one honest caveat is that not every stone can be assumed reusable — some cuts and worn girdles carry risk — which we raise up front, not after.
How your stone gets evaluated and set
The starting point is an inspection, because a loose stone is not a finished component. We look at the cut and dimensions (to design a setting that actually fits and protects it), the clarity and any existing inclusions or chips (which affect how safely it can be seated and worn), and the girdle and overall soundness. Whether a stone from an old ring is fit for another setting is a judgement on that specific gem, made before you commit rather than discovered at the bench.
Then the setting is built around your stone rather than the other way round. We design the piece to the gem's size and proportions — a bezel to protect a soft or included stone, prongs to let light into a well-cut one, an accent layout if the stone is small — and develop that into a CAD you approve. Stones are set by hand under a microscope, the same bench work as any piece here.
The honest boundary: we cannot promise every stone survives setting, and a good factory says so plainly. Certain cuts, thin girdles and stones with deep inclusions are genuinely riskier to seat, and a worn stone from decades ago may not be a safe candidate for daily wear. Bringing your own stone is common and welcome — the professional approach is to evaluate it honestly and design the setting to protect it.

More questions on this
Can you set a diamond or gemstone I already own?+
Yes — a family stone or loose gem can be set into a new custom design or reset into a modified piece, after we inspect that it is sound enough to set.
Will you guarantee my stone can be set safely?+
We assess it honestly first. Some cuts, thin girdles and included stones carry real setting risk, so reusing a given gem is a case-by-case judgement, not an automatic promise.
Can I combine my stone with new metal and accents?+
Yes — the piece is designed around your stone's size and proportions, added metal and any accent stones, and you approve the CAD before it is made.
