How Long Does Custom Jewelry Take?
Direct answer
It depends most on the piece, not on a fixed clock. Every project runs the same stages — design and CAD, your approval, casting, stone setting, finishing and QC, then shipping — but the time each takes flexes with complexity, whether stones must be sourced, and how many approval rounds you use. A simple cast band moves faster than a hand-set multi-stone piece. We quote your specific timeline with your estimate rather than a single blanket number.
What sets the pace, stage by stage
The stages are predictable; their durations are not, and pretending otherwise would be dishonest. Design and CAD take as long as the read from your sketch needs and how many revision rounds you want. Casting runs in batches, so a piece waits for the next pour. Stone setting scales with stone count — a full pavé is bench hours per stone. Finishing and QC is the polishing grade plus inspection and photography of the done piece. Shipping then depends on destination and the terms named in your quote.
The biggest single lever is usually your approval, and that is by design. Nothing casts until you approve the CAD, so the clock genuinely pauses while you review — which protects you from a piece made on an assumption, but means an unreturned approval is also the most common reason a project slips. Complexity and stone sourcing are the other two: intricate hand work and hunting a specific stone add time a simple, stocked-material build does not.
Because those inputs are specific to your design, we give a real timeline with your quote — the expected sequence and rough pace for that piece — rather than promising every order a single turnaround. If you have a deadline (an event, a launch), tell us at the start: it shapes which build route and stone options are realistic, and it is far easier to plan around a date at CAD than to chase it after casting.

More questions on this
Is there a standard custom jewelry turnaround?+
Not one that would be honest to publish. Sequence is standard; duration depends on complexity, stone sourcing and approval rounds, so your quote carries your timeline.
What most often delays a project?+
An unreturned CAD approval — the clock pauses until you confirm, because nothing casts on an unapproved design.
Can you hit a specific date?+
Often, if we know it up front — a deadline shapes the build route and stone choices at CAD, which is much easier than chasing it after casting.
